On this day in Disney history, October 3, 1912, the world said hello to baby Van Arsdale France. Van would grow up to become a pioneer in the training and development field and the originator of the University of Disneyland (a model so successful, it formed the basis for the company-wide training now called the Disney University).
In the early 1980s, Van and a small group of other Disneyland executives saw a need for keeping Disneyland Cast Members connected "beyond the berm," as they saw the first generation of college graduates leaving the Park for outside careers.
So Van created the Disneyland Alumni Club. Join us today as we salute our beloved founder. While things have changed over the years and we are now a self-supporting 501c3, we wouldn't be here without you, Van. We are grateful for you!
